Default Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! or "Reborn!" for short in the states, is a relatively new manga/anime. The first season is rather dull, but it really starts to pick up in the later episodes (in the vs. Varia arc, aka Season Two, is where it gets real good). Give it a few episodes and let the awkwardness of a boy bursting out of his clothes not stick to you for too long. Eventually his clothes learn how to stay on his his body, lol, and the series becomes more serious and way more entertaining.

Description: A baby hitman named Reborn, who is the Vongola family's #1 hitman of the mafia ventures to Japan where he meets a boy named Tsuna who has no determination in life. Reborn becomes Tsuna's "tutor", while he attempts to train him to be the next boss of the Vongola family. Reborn also possesses a special bullet call the 'Dying Will' bullet, that is a specialty of the Vongola family. This bullet will revive you from death if you have any regrets when dying. When the bullet revives you, it gives you the determination to do what needs to be done.

They have different titles, man. What do you think? I never watched Shaman King since that was one of 4kids (or used to be?) properties here in the States.

A few things to note about Reborn:

1. Next to no filler. The only filler the series ever had was a small group of episodes after the Varia arc. The episodes were goofy, but they weren't the quality of the typical Naruto or Bleach filler episode.

2. The canons arcs actually end. The manga just ended the future arc that has been going on in the anime for a while now. The anime just started on the fights and has a decent distance between the manga. I can see filler obviously coming after this arc is concluded, but no filler arcs.

3. Doesn't use Sex Appeal. Not to say that the series in no way has any sexual related jokes, but the series doesn't have characters like Naruto's Tsunade or Bleach's Orihime. It gives the series a more realistic feel to it, and keeps people more focused on what really matters. It tends to toss in a a lot comedic moments probably due to this, but it's well worth it in the end.

4. Next to no blood. Ever since the series concluded the first season, the series has little to no blood. Sure, people still die. But compared to most other shonen series, Reborn is usually bloodless (it seem that the manga does, but I have to read it more before I can determine this).

5. Has a bad habit of contradicting itself constantly. I wish I could remember what most of these were, but I caught several cases where characters tend to say how something works, or how someone does what, then a few episodes later it changes or happens in a different way without much of an explanation. Characters also tend to say weird things that also apply to this. I remember Gokudera saying something like "It's stupid that this guy gets stomach aches!" when the character himself is well known to fall over with a stomach ache when he sees his sister (she makes poison food).

The series is just as good as any other big shonen anime, and it's really worth watching. Just try not to take too seriously, or else you won't be watching it for very long.

No to revive a dead thread, but I don't think blood & violence makes a series better.

It does. Makes it alot more serious as well. Even humourous series like One Piece would be total crap without bloody fight scenes.

It makes it more realistic and yeah, it makes it alot more exciting.

Okay, I can agree with you somewhat on it. I once did Episode Comparisons for the Funimation edited dub of One Piece. The episodes I did was during Jaya Arc (right before the not so cool Sky arc). If you remember, Bellamy and his crew of douchebags beat the ever living hell out of Luffy & Zoro. It was probably the most brutal scene I've seen in the anime since Arlong crushing Nami's foster mom's arm (forgot her name).

Anyway, but to my point, the scene had all the blood removed, and when blackbeard made his speech to a bloodless Luffy (while drinking his colored over bottle of rum), it just felt empty and emotionless. While in the original, it felt a little inspirational.

I do remember, and well... funimation does it for a reason. The majority of their viewers are children under 12. I guess they earn more money that way.

But it's just like any other anime! Let's take Naruto and Bleach for example. Without the "gore" it wouldnt have the same effect.

Alot of fight scenes would have been humorous to watch instead of the pumped up adrenaline kicks we are experiencing now.
