Info and stuff:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (とある科学の超電磁砲?, lit. A Certain Scientific Railgun) is an anime series based on a spin-off manga to the light novel series Toaru Majutsu no Index, focusing on the adventures of Mikoto Misaka and her friends. The anime is produced by J.C.Staff and began airing on October 2, 2009. The first 12 episodes follow the manga closely, with some changes and a few original episodes and characters to flesh out the story, while the later half of the series is anime-original written by Kazuma Kamachi, the author of the Toaru Majutsu no Index novels. It features five pieces of theme music, two opening themes and three ending themes. The opening theme for episodes 1-14 is "Only my Railgun" by fripSide, whilst episodes 15-24 use "LEVEL 5 -Judgelight-", also by fripSide. The ending theme for episodes 2-14 and episode 24 is "Dear My Friend: Mada Minu Mirai e" (Dear My Friend -まだ見ぬ未来へ-?) by Elisa, whist episodes 15-23 use "Real Force", also by Elisa. The ending theme for episode twelve is "Smile: You & Me" by Elisa, which uses the same melody as "Dear My Friend: Mada Minu Mirai".

So here ya go!

Toaru Majutsu no Index

The episodes of the Japanese animated television series Toaru Majutsu no Index (とある魔術の禁書目録, Toaru Majutsu no Indekkusu?, lit. A Certain Magical Index) are based on the light novel series of the same name written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura. The episodes are directed by Hiroshi Nishikikori, and produced by the animation studio J.C.Staff.[1] The plot of the episodes follows the life of Tōma Kamijō, a psychic high school student who resides in a scientifically advanced city, and his interactions with other psychic and magic users after he meets Index, a young nun whose mind has been implanted with the 103,000 magical texts of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum.

Been there, seen that. I didn't enjoy it to be honest. I think it was poorly made and that they could've put more time in making it better. It's just cheap.

That's of course just my opinion .

Alright folks!

After watching both series, I have to state my opinions of it in total:

Both series are definitively under the must-see category.

RAILGUN is a offspring series to the original INDEX, so I recommend that you watch INDEX first.

INDEX

The plot is centered around a young boy that happens to find a English priestess, that possesses a huge Index of magic books stored in her memory, hanging over his 3rd(or so) floor apartment balcony...

Enough with the spoiling here is the pros/cons

Pros:
  • Great storyline (although a bit straightforward)
  • (mostly)Unique and funny characters
  • Good OP's/ED's
  • A variety of music to fit the different scenes

Cons:
  • Power is varying a bit much from episode to episode
  • Vlc did not like this torrent's file, so I had to see it in Media Player Classic (this is not affecting my end result)
  • a teeenyweeny bit of Ecchi (Let me Google that for you)

My rating: 4.0/5

RAILGUN

NOTE: I HIGHLY recommend that you watch INDEX before you see this

Now, this is a show that you need to take your time and watch. It follows two of the side characters from INDEX in a time line a bit before and in the star of INDEX.

If you can survive and look past the amount of Ecchi in this show, you are in for a real treat.

Pros:
  • Good story; Powerful, yet touching yet cool. (Kinda hard to explain but it messes with your mind) Let's just call it Epic.
  • Gives a insight to the side characters from INDEX
  • What could look like a filler episode, actually turned out to be the best Cannon part!
  • Epic OP's and a fair enough ED's
  • Music is about the same as with INDEX

Cons:
  • Just a bit lacking in the ending (see for yourself)
  • A bit too much Ecchi.

Despite the con's , this turned out to be one of the better Anime's I've seen
over the past years.

Therefore:
My rating: 4.5/5
